Color forecasting of Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2010

After doing research and analyzing the collection of Haute Couture (S/S) of Christian Dior in the past few years, I find that Mr. John Galliano used achromatic color scheme, analogic color scheme, complementary color scheme, split complementary color scheme in the past few years. Therefore, I forecast the Haut Couture S/S in 2010 will continue to use the above color scheme.


If you are interested in Haute Couture of Dior, it is not difficult for you to find out that Mr. Galliano use many color in one collection. And his style is bring something new and creative to his audience, so he use quite a lot of color comparing with other brands such as Chanel, D&G. Therefore, for the Haute Couture S/S 2010, I forecast a little bit wide range of color.


Mr. Galliano always uses warm color such as red, orange, yellow, yellowish green. I think these warm colors can bring a feeling of warmth, spring, energy and happiness which can represent the characteristics of spring and summer. Therefore, I forecast Mr. Galliano will use red, orange, yellow as the major color in the collection of Haute Couture S/S 2010.

As I mentioned before, Mr. Galliano likes to use complementary color scheme, so blue, green and purple should be present in the collection when the red, orange and yellow are used. But the proportion of these cool colors may be less than warm color.

Besides, Mr. Galliano use achromatic color scheme in each collection, may be it is his style. So I believe that he will also use black and white in Haute Couture S/S 2010.

Mr. Galliano likes to interpret different culture in his designs. For example, in 2003, he inserted Japanese and Chinese culture in the collection.

What culture or what country may he use?
I think is India! Because there is a hot movie of India this year, Slumdog Millionaire.
This movie makes people aware the developing country, India and the issue of India.
Besides, I believe Mr. Galliano is quite interested in India since he designed a saddle bag of India when he designed the limited edition of the 10th anniversary saddle bag.

Also, Mr. Galliano likes to use floral print. to combine the culture of India and China, i forecast My Galliano will use traditional embroidery in gold color that represent King in China in his collection. He may use floral print embroidery. Floral print apply the principle of familarity, it use the color in nature. people are pleasing & readily to accept & fell harmony when seeing those color. It also brings spring feeling natural feeling.

Also, India has traditional clothing that is beautiful and can be fashionable.
It is Sari!
Sari seems like only one fabric, so it allows designers to elaborate his creativity and talent.

When design Sari, I think gold color is very suitable since it represent elegant and wealth. The most important is gold represent Christian Dior!
The name of Dior means god and gold. Therefore, to respect the spirit of Dior, I forecast gold color will be used in 2010.

Apart from this, I find that Mr. Galliano used some sharp color such as red , yellow, orange, green in the collections in the past few years. So I believe those color will also be the major color in 2010 collection.

Here’s the color family I forecast in Christian Dior Haute Couture S/S 2010.
red, orange, gold, yellow is the major color. then is purple, blue and green.

for the split complementary scheme, i think purple & green & orange(1), green & blue & pink(3), blue & orange & yellow (6), purple & green & orange (last one) will be used.

for the analogic color scheme, i think red & orange, blue & pruple, yellow & orange, red & pruple will be used.

for the complementary color scheme, i think yellow & purple, orange & blue will be used.

Sari

Sari may be called saree or shari.

It is a female garment in India.

A sari is a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from 4 to 9 metres in length that long enough to drape over the female body in various styles.

The most common style is wrapping the sari around the waist with one end and draping over the shoulder baring the midriff.Sari is the Indian fashion that has its variety in multicultural society of India.

The texture and the style of sari vary from south to north and east to west India.

The fashionable sari has retained its beauty over the time.

The latest fashion in sari becomes a style of added value to the wearer with attraction.

The theme of these 12 bags is 12 countries including France, Britain, Spain, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, the United States, Morocco, Egypt, Japan, India and China.

John designed them based on his understaning of those countries and the culture of those countris, so culture influnence fsahion obviously.

For example, the saddle bag of China featured with a dragon and red color that represent Eastern culture and traditional embroidery in gold color that represent King in China.
